The inaugural Aston Martin DB12 was auctioned off for $1.6 million at a charity event

During a charity auction held shortly after the official debut of the Aston Martin DB12, the very first customer car was sold for an impressive $1.6 million. The auction took place in Cannes, France, and was part of the amfAR Gala Cannes 2023 event, which supports The Foundation for AIDS Research.

The DB12, touted as the world’s first super tourer by Aston Martin, garnered significant attention and attracted numerous celebrities from the entertainment, arts, and fashion industries. The successful auction exceeded initial expectations and marked the beginning of regular production for the highly anticipated DB12 model.

Shortly after the Aston Martin DB12 made its debut, the automaker wasted no time in selling the exclusive chance to own the inaugural customer car. This took place at a high-profile charity auction in Cannes, France, where the world’s first super tourer was sold for $1.6 million. The event, graced by numerous celebrities, supported the amfAR Gala Cannes 2023, which aimed to raise funds for The Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR).

Eva Longoria and James Marsden presented the vehicle on stage, accompanied by a star-studded lineup of renowned celebrities from the realms of entertainment, arts, and fashion.

The notable attendees included Queen Latifa, Rebel Wilson and Fan Bingbing, esteemed actors, alongside Sara Sampaio, Bianca Balti, Heidi Klum, Stella Maxwell, and Alessandra Ambrosio, renowned models.

The organizers’ conservative expectations for the sale price of the Aston Martin DB12 were surpassed, as the car fetched a significantly higher amount. The proceeds from the auction will be directed towards supporting the foundation’s AIDS research efforts.

Additionally, this special supercar, aside from being the first produced in the DB12 lineup, will bear the signatures of Aston Martin Formula 1 drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso on its engine cover.

The unique DB12 boasts exclusive customizations by Q by Aston Martin, including a distinctive fender badge and embroidered headrests. Furthermore, a special plate on the inner side of the door sill will showcase the vehicle’s history.

Lawrence Stroll, the chairman of Aston Martin, expresses delight in the automaker’s support of the amfAR Gala Cannes.

He further emphasizes that the remarkable sum raised through the charity auction not only demonstrates the generosity of the event attendees but also reflects the tremendous enthusiasm surrounding the new DB12. Stroll highlights how the model’s exceptional ultra-luxury features and high-performance capabilities elevate it to a class beyond the current GT category.

The Aston Martin DB12 is set to enter regular production in the third quarter of this year. While specific pricing information is not yet disclosed, it is worth noting that the preceding model, the DB11, had a starting price of $208,425 for the 2022 base model in the US.
