The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally adds spice to the Mach-E lineup

Last Friday at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Ford unveiled its latest all-electric offering, the Mustang Mach-E Rally. The vehicle is set to launch this fall and will initially be available in Europe and North America.

To my surprise, the Mustang Mach-E Rally will mark the Mustang nameplate’s first dedicated off-road rally car in history.

While Ford hasn’t disclosed many specifics yet, the pictures reveal several key features of the Mustang Mach-E Rally.

These include a large rally-style rear spoiler with Mustang horse logos on each side, a special forged grille incorporating two additional round lights, white rally-style wheels fitted with BFGoodrich Trail Terrain T/A tires, and sizable integrated fenders.

The vehicle is adorned with black and white designs, resembling the camouflage often seen on pre-production vehicles, featuring prominent “Mach-E Rally” decals on the sides.

We speculate that the Mustang Mach-E Rally will likely possess at least as much power as the Mach-E GT Performance Edition, which boasts a dual-motor powertrain producing 480 horsepower and 634 pound-feet of torque.

Nevertheless, Ford has not yet disclosed any technical specifications, keeping details under wraps.

Following its unveiling, the Mustang Model E Rally was showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last week, with Ott Tänak, the current driver of the M-Sport Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1 entry and former World Rally champion, taking the wheel for a demonstration.

We had the chance to interview Darren Palmer, Ford Model E’s VP of Electric Vehicle Programs, regarding the Mustang Mach-E Rally.

During the interview, we discussed various aspects of the vehicle, including Ford’s motivation for creating a Mach-E Rally car and whether he believed spectators would show the same level of interest in electric motorsports as they do with combustion-powered race cars.

We will closely monitor the release of technical specifications, pricing, and availability of the Mach-E Rally and will update the article as soon as more information becomes available. In the meantime, feel free to explore our interview with Palmer and share your thoughts, comments, and questions below.
