Chevrolet has unveiled the 2024 Chevy Equinox specifically designed for the Chinese marke

New images of upcoming homologated models have been released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Among them is the Chevrolet Equinox, which displays a distinct appearance compared to the current U.S. model. With the existing North American version having been around since 2017, the Chinese variant is expected to provide a preview of the next-generation Equinox bound for the United States.

The recently published photos on the MIIT website strongly indicate that the upcoming 2025 Equinox for the United States will bear a resemblance to the Chinese model. Despite the presence of provisional headlights on the spotted prototypes, their positioning remains consistent.

Furthermore, the Chinese-bound crossover showcases a split grille design and an identical hood outline, further supporting the notion of design alignment between the two versions.

When focusing on the rear of the vehicle, it becomes apparent that the taillights are positioned similarly.

However, due to their temporary nature, they don’t share the exact appearance. The camouflage also hinders a clear view of how the rear lights extend downwards at the outer corners.

Nevertheless, the red horizontal reflectors retain the same placement as seen in the Chinese version, along with the crease that stretches from left to right. Additional similarities include the presence of a roof spoiler with a third brake light, as well as a small rear wiper.

In addition to showcasing the exterior design, the MIIT website provides insights into the technical specifications of the vehicle. According to the information available, the upcoming Equinox intended for the second most populous country will have dimensions of 4653 millimeters (183.1 inches) in length and 1902 millimeters (74.8 inches) in width.

The listed heights vary, likely depending on trim level and the presence of roof rails, with options of 1710 millimeters (67.32 inches), 1712 millimeters (67.40 inches), and 1714 millimeters (67.48 inches).

The Chevrolet crossover boasts a wheelbase measuring 2730 millimeters (107.5 inches) and has a weight ranging between 1,550 kilograms (3,417 pounds) and 1,620 kilograms (3,571 pounds), depending on the specific configuration.

The depicted version showcased here is equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine, generating 170 horsepower (127 kW). This power output enables the vehicle to reach a top speed of 118 mph (190 km/h).

The Chinese model is anticipated to be officially unveiled in the upcoming months, while the debut of its American counterpart is expected to take place next year, likely as a 2025 model year release.

The 2024 Chevy Equinox designed for the Chinese market has been unveiled, and it is believed to provide a preview of the next-generation Equinox model intended for the United States.

This release signifies Chevrolet’s focus on updating the Equinox, as the current North American version has been available since 2017 and is beginning to show its age.

While specific details about the 2024 Equinox for China have not been extensively disclosed, the photos published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology suggest significant design differences compared to the current U.S. model.

These images indicate that the Chinese version showcases a fresh aesthetic direction, potentially signaling what can be expected from the upcoming next-generation Equinox for the American market.

By revealing the 2024 Equinox in China first, Chevrolet aims to gauge market response and fine-tune the design and features before introducing it to the United States.

This strategy allows Chevrolet to tailor the Equinox to meet the preferences and demands of the Chinese market, which is the world’s largest automotive market, while also offering insights and anticipation for the U.S. audience.

As a likely preview of the next-generation Equinox model for the United States, the 2024 Equinox for China provides a glimpse into the future updates, enhancements, and advancements that can be expected in the U.S.-bound Equinox.

It is an exciting development for Chevrolet enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the next iteration of the Equinox and demonstrates Chevrolet’s commitment to evolving its popular compact crossover SUV to meet the evolving needs and preferences of consumers.
