Aston Martin, having canceled the Rapide E sedan, is now partnering with Lucid to tap into its electric expertise. This collaboration aims to develop a dedicated platform for a wide range of upcoming models, including sports cars, grand tourers, SUVs, and even a hypercar surpassing the Valkyrie. The debut of Aston Martin’s first EV from this collaboration is scheduled for 2025.

According to Aston Martin chairman Lawrence Stroll, the collaboration with Lucid involves more than just borrowing technology.
The aim is to customize the technology to align with Aston Martin’s “ultra-luxury, high-performance strategy.” To provide a glimpse of what to expect, it’s worth noting that the Air Sapphire from Lucid boasts a tri-motor configuration, delivering a combined power output of over 1,200 horsepower.
This enables the car to achieve a 0-60 mph acceleration in under two seconds and reach a top speed of over 200 mph.
As per Reuters, Lucid will acquire a 3.7-percent share in Aston Martin, with Aston Martin making phased cash payments totaling around $232 million to Lucid.
Notably, Chinese automotive giant Geely recently increased its stake in Aston Martin to 17 percent just last month. Additionally, Mercedes has announced its intention to further increase its share to 20 percent by the end of 2023.
The recently signed agreement with Lucid will not hinder Aston Martin’s existing partnership with Mercedes. As mentioned in the press release, the collaboration with the German luxury brand will persist, granting Aston Martin access to technologies that will be utilized in future combustion-engined cars, as well as hybrid and electric vehicles.
